Here at Churchview & Larklands we have been welcoming the coming of Spring and the opportunity to get out into the garden again. Although the temperatures have a dropped a bit this week it hasn’t stopped our lovely residents from starting the Gardening Club. We managed to dodge the drizzle and started to plant seeds – each resident chose what they wanted to grow.We are certainly making full use of our planters and can’t wait until we can harvest the fruits of our labours.
We had a beautiful Valentine’s Day here at Larklands. We created our very own restaurant for the day. Cards – handmade by our lovely residents – were opened before a terrific candlelit 3 course meal was served. There was a Prosecco bar and real ales were served alongside their meal. Everyone had a fabulous time.
On Sunday we celebrated our lovely Alan’s 67th birthday. He received lots presents and cards. He loved his balloons, and of course he was very impressed with his amazing cake and his tea tasted extra nice in his new mug. We hope he really enjoyed his special day.
This is an important piece of advice being issued by Police Forces. Please be aware of this and other scams taking place currently. … We have been made aware of a new phishing scam. A text telling people they are eligible for a Covid19 vaccination comes through to people’s mobiles. The message links to a convincing yet fake NHS page which asks for bank details. Do not click on the link or provide your name, credit card or bank details. This is a scam. The Police Force have clarified the NHS may try and contact you in several ways, but they never ask for you to disclose bank details. If you think you have been targeted by a scammer contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or the police.

As 2020 comes to a close, we want to look forward to hopefully a brighter year ahead. There is still a long way to go for everyone to be safer and to feel they can lead more of a normal life, but there is now cause for hope. Of course we still need to be really careful and we will make sure that we offer the very best and safest possible care and support to your loved ones, as we have done throughout this year. We know that this New Year will be a quiet one for most people, but we can all raise a glass to each other in the safety of our own homes and look forward to better times ahead. Form everyone at United Health we hope you have a Happy and Safe New Year.
IT’S HERE!!…..Of course we mean the United Health Advent Calendar for 2020. Last years was such a success that everyone wanted to repeat it in 2020. Of course this year has not been so great, but we have decided to keep an upbeat theme – we figured that most people have had their share of doom and gloom this year. Why not take a look at our Facebook page to see all the great videos that we have posted so far. https://www.facebook.com/unitedhealthltd
Remembrance Day honours those who sacrificed everything for our freedoms. Today we pay particular tribute to the men and women of the Second World War generation, and to those of today’s, who have served and sacrificed to defend our country. Many of our residents will have lived through the war or had relatives who possibly lost their lives during conflict. Remembering them today will be particularly poignant as it takes place against the backdrop of another, albeit different, worldwide crisis. We hope that you will join with us at 11am and perform the simple act of respect by observing two minutes slience.
Our internal mental batteries have all taken a bit of extra load over the last 8 months, and it’s no wonder that many of us have struggled with anxiety and other mental health issues during this time. Here is a useful graphic that might help you check your own mental heath in a simple and constructive way. Of course many of you will have been caring for others during this period, but it’s also important to look after yourselves!
Halloween may look a bit different this year, but we couldn’t let the day pass without a spooky themed joke..What is a ghost’s favourite party game? Hide-and-shriek.
Have a great day everyone!
