Bunkers Hill
Caring for all your needs
Bunkers Hill cares for residential and nursing needs but can also offer respite and day care facilities. It may be that you simply require looking after for a short period of time, or would like a day now and then when you meet with others to share memories over a cup of tea.
In a dedicated wing of the home, we also provide high quality care for people who may be living with dementia. Our staff have all undergone specialist training to enable them to provide the most understanding and appropriate help. We firmly believe that living with dementia is not a reason to stop leading an enjoyable, interesting and varied life, and we do our upmost to make sure this is the case at Bunkers Hill.
Whatever your needs may be, we are here to help you enrich your life at a time when it may have seemed that would be difficult to achieve. We are proud to be able to help the people of Lincoln and the surrounding area to find happiness and friendship in their later years.
Choosing the right care for you
We always recommend that you visit the home to make sure that it is the right one for you. Whilst you are visiting, ask the questions that are most important to you and find out more about life in the home.
If you’re not sure about something then we would be happy to arrange a trial day where you can come and have lunch, join in with activities and chat to other residents. We want you to feel totally comfortable with the choice you make and will do everything we can to help you make the right one.
If you are uncertain as to exactly what type of care might be appropriate for you then below we have set out what we see as the essential differences between various care categories.
Residential Care
You might still be independent of spirit but gradually finding it more difficult to manage some of life’s daily tasks. At Bunkers Hill we can help you with these whilst still allowing you control over your daily routine. Our residential care can help you with a variety of daily activities such as eating, washing, dressing and mobility, as well as providing a greater level of care for those who need more support if they’re more frail.
Dementia Care
Although many people diagnosed with dementia are still able to have care delivered to their own home, there are others whose need is for greater support in a care home environment. For those people, we want to maintain for them, as far as is possible, a life they are familiar with. To us this means enabling them to enjoy the things that they are used to in their life already – eating the same type of meals, taking part in the same sorts of activities, and above all staying in touch with friends and relatives. We firmly believe that living with dementia does not mean retreating from life and all it has to offer.
Nursing Care
Nursing care is appropriate for people who need a qualified nursing team available to them 24 hours a day. There can be many different reasons for requiring this level of support, for example, some residents may require rehabilitation following serious illness, such as a stroke or heart attack. Others may have complex physical needs or long-term conditions that require the specialist attention and care that only nursing staff can deliver.
Respite Care
We understand that it can be difficult for families or friends providing care for a loved one on an ongoing basis. It is important as part of caring for someone else that you find time to care for yourself. Respite stays generally last for a minimum of a week to several weeks, although that is entirely up to you and your family. Our Respite Care can help with:
- Rest and recuperation after a hospital stay
- A short relaxation break away from home
- Giving carers some time off to focus on themselves
- Enabling full-time carers to take a holiday
- Trialling the home before committing on a long-term basis
- Short stays or stays of several weeks - A separate respite suite for your stay with us
Day Care
Very often as we get older we can find that our circumstances mean we become lonely and inactive through not having the opportunity to meet other people. But we believe life is too short to stay at home!
Our Day Care service offers you the opportunity to spend a day away from your normal routine, enjoying the opportunity to meet others for conversation, fun and friendship.
There is a cooked lunch provided, and a great afternoon tea, along with refreshments and snacks throughout the day.
