Churchview & Larklands
Situated in the attractive Derbyshire market town of Ilkeston, this lovely care home consists of two bungalows nestling side by side in their own attractive gardens. These purpose-built homes allow for the highest care to be delivered to up to ten adults with profound learning and physical disabilities.
Both houses have individually decorated bedrooms that reflect the personality of each resident. The homes also have large and airy communal areas, including lounges and a dining room. Complementing these is a sensory room that allows residents to experience a range of tactile and visual stimuli. We also offer an in-house cinema screen with audio surround sound system. Externally the homes have a secure and secluded patio area which is attached to an exceptional sensory garden, enabling residents to grow and tend their own fruit and vegetables.
A full time coordinator ensures that all our residents lead a busy, fulfilling life and that their interests, choices and needs are reflected in a wide variety of activities. These take place within the home and also in the community making use of our own minibus for regular trips out. Each of our residents has the experience of a person centred daily activity. We organise male and female gender specific days as well as weekly group activities and monthly special events. In addition, we have an annual family and friends BBQ, when everyone can come together and enjoy good food, music and wine.
An important part of our care is the annual holiday that every resident enjoys, either on a one to one basis with a carer, or with friends. We cater for every detail to make sure that the experience is as good as it possibly can be. Examples of previous holidays have included trips to Disneyland Paris, the Peak District, a Motorhome experience, a log cabin with hot tub and sauna swimming pool. We want all our residents to enjoy a holiday that is personal to them and reflects their likes and dislikes as completely as possible.
No two residents are alike in their personalities or needs and the care we give reflects this at all times. We develop individual care plans and each resident has two key workers who deal with specific aspects of their care. We encourage close contact with families and our homes develop close and lasting relationships with relatives. We offer a very high standard of care for everyone, delivered by an experienced and committed team, who do everything they can to make our resident’s lives as rich and fulfilling as possible.
Involvement of relatives and friends is important to us and we encourage families to take an active part in the ongoing care planning of their loved one. Our residents can also be supported back to their family homes for a special event, or simply just pop home for a cuppa. The highlight of this involvement is often our Christmas party, where all our homes in Ilkeston get together, families, friends, staff and residents, and enjoy fabulous entertainment, good food and a great atmosphere.
We want all our residents and families to feel safe, happy and secure in the knowledge that they have a warm and welcoming home that will do everything it can for them to make the most out of life.
