Highfields is situated next to its sister home, Valley View, in a private residential area close to Swadlincote town centre. The home offers residential accommodation for up to five adults with profound learning and physical disabilities. Highfields offers a warm and homely environment, where our aim is to recognise the individual needs and wishes of each resident, whilst at the same time helping them to live amongst a caring community, where everyone is valued and respected.
The bungalow style home is a purpose-built facility with five bedrooms, all of which are decorated to the resident’s individual wishes. They are excellently equipped with a range of specialist furniture and include fully automated ceiling hoists to the ensuite bathrooms. Complementing these are additional specialised bathing and showering facilities. The home has a generous sized lounge and dining spaces, as well as a sensory room which is well equipped with a range of visual, tactile and other sensory stimulus equipment. Outside there is a patio area and a wonderful sensory garden which has a choice of seating areas and is maintained year-round for residents’ enjoyment.
Highfields is a home that is completely committed to offering care that is tailored to someone’s individual needs. We do not believe that quality care can be delivered on a ‘one size fits all’ basis – everything we do is person-centred. This means each resident’s care needs are fully assessed and bespoke care plans and risk assessments are put in place. Where possible these are created, and reviewed with input from the residents themselves. We also want families’ involvement to be a part of the care we provide. We operate an ‘open hours’ visiting policy, and we encourage family and friends to become a part of our community. When family members are unable to visit, we will endeavour to offer home visits whenever possible.
At Highfields, we feel activities are crucial to our residents’ wellbeing, and we want everyone to enjoy a rich and fulfilling life whilst at the home. We undertake a wide range of activities providing stimulation and interest for all our residents. Alongside activities within the home we also regularly organise trips out for our residents. We learn what our residents like, what they can do, and help them to achieve it and to build on their confidences by giving them opportunities to do so.
We offer a very high standard of care for everyone, delivered by an experienced and committed team, who do everything they can to make our resident’s lives as rich and fulfilling as possible. We are committed to them and their families for the whole time they are with us, ensuring they are supported, comfortable, safe and secure in their surroundings. As a team we strive to go the extra mile in delivering care to our residents – we want to make a real difference to the lives of the people we support. We believe that delivering quality care is not simply about looking after someone in a pleasant and well equipped environment, but going further.
