Back in October we announced that our Area Manager Jayne Dempsey began a brave fight against breast cancer.
We are so pleased to be able to tell you that after ‘ the toughest seven months of my life’ Jayne has now started a phased return to work
and is already getting up to speed with developments at the three Ilkeston homes and embracing some of the great things that have happened whilst she was away.
The photo is of Jayne and her mother (‘My rock’ says Jayne) shortly after her diagnosis. It was taken on a trip to London to celebrate her daughter’s success when taking her GCSE’s. Despite what she was going through she was determined to keep doing as much as she could normally, whilst starting her treatment.
Recently Jayne attended a charity ball at Eastwood Hall in aid of research into Breast Cancer. She gave a short speech telling people about her journey with the disease. You can see a short video of the speech on our social media pages. We think it pays tribute to our brave friend Jayne… a Mum, daughter and partner, and shows just how difficult life can be on occasion. United Health has fully supported Jayne throughout this time and this support will continue on her return.
We hope that if you are struggling with cancer or know of someone who is that Jayne’s story gives you some hope and certainly her words are an inspiration to us all.
We wish Jayne all the best on her return and the very best for her future.
